Pure Leginds!

Another year, another unforgettable match in Thomond Park.

The more things change etc. etc.

It was the most engrossing game of rugby i have seen this season. The “2nd string” Munster team tore into them from the off. They obviously hadn’t been told that they were 15-1 to win.

Warwick was brilliant in directing proceedings. A couple of missed McDonald kicks helped. The heart and belief shown by the young lads in the pack, some of them 3rd choice in their position, the leadership of Mick O’Driscoll, all vital. Stringer showing that while he may have been usurped for the Irish and Munster number 9 jerseys, he is far from over the hill. Rua and Lifemi had a typical rowdy performance in midfield. Dougie unfortunately was far from his vintage self.

Pride overwhelmed disappointment. I know the whole “Irish by birth, Munster by the grace of god” is a cliché at this stage, but i really couldn’t imagine, nor would want to be from anywhere else. Or support any other team. When the four boys stepped forward  to do the Haka, it was special. To borrow someone else’s words “goosebump inducing stuff!”

It’s nights like that, cause me to think about going home. I know I’ve missed a hell of a night out in Limerick.

Surely this game is the end of the discussion on whether to bring back mid-week games onto the tours?

I have to say, Munster really does have something special in this regard. I couldn’t imagine Ulster lads doing a haka any justice, or that I’d get that excited about it for that matter.
